Cyrille PINTON started making his own loudspeakers, almost by accident, when he found an HiFi amplifier whitout speakers in his parents' basement. He very soon replaced the 5'' bicone, originally from a car.
As years went by, he build larger and larger systems... He met many people... music lovers and audiophiles, who were DIYers too, sharing their « passion » and experiences. But also speaker repairmen, who gave him opportunities to learn from their expertises.
Then one day, his longing for a 15'' driver was thwarted. He was frustrated by how little choice there was in the existing products catalogues, which are designed for sound reinforcement and its particular constraints. As a result, he created his first Cyrille-Audio speaker prototype : a 15'' bass driver. His wish to reduce distorsion made him keem to develop a symetrical field-gap on a FEA software and use a flux stabilization ring. The magnetic structure, turned on a CNC machine by a french specialist in precision mechanical engineering, was the enduring backbone of his research around moving assembly for five years.
When he met Marco HENRY and Hugues BORSARELLO from MUSIQUE-CONCRETE, he began to work on a 15'' speaker specifically designed for the Grande Castine horn loaded system. The great sound accuracy he obtained, after a 2 years research, originate in his use of custom made elements, such as the ultra-light exponential paper cone, as well as the neodymium motor set in a underhung configuration.
These were his professional debuts.
Cyrille-Audio is currently developing a range of speakers, with the same ideals : objective linearity and subjective musicality.
